Our
Story...

Our story began in 2022 with an idea and a small grant that made a big difference. Our founding members received a grant to host a series of arts and crafts workshops at community health centres in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

The response from participants and clinic staff was overwhelmingly positive. It became clear that these creative spaces were deeply needed, and that our work had only just begun. Later that year, we officially became a non-profit organization.

Since then, we’ve expanded our arts and crafts workshops to new sites across Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, offering more opportunities for connection and creativity. As we continue to grow, we remain guided by our belief that creativity can build community and nurture wellbeing. We’re committed to expanding access to the arts, fostering belonging, and supporting the resilience and self-expression of women and gender-diverse folks in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

We've had the pleasure of welcoming The DTES Arts and Crafts Society monthly to our Women’s Night clinic which provides access to healthcare and other social supports. The Society has been instrumental in connecting clients with a creative outlet and community by connecting over arts and crafts. The Society also welcomes artists from the neighbourhood to teach their craft giving independent artists access to work which is invaluable. We cannot thank them enough and love having them join us.
